“WBENC’s certification is particularly meaningful because of our work with women leaders and business owners over the years. As a women-owned business, our team understands the importance of empowerment and inclusion in the business world, and joining forces with the WBENC organization allows for greater exposure and collaboration with other women leaders,” says Beth Alford, Founder and Principal at Alford Creative.
The national standard for certification through WBENC is a rigorous process that involves an in-depth review of our entire business: its legal structure, mission, finances, processes, marketing, and hiring practices. It confirms that our business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women, and has the appropriate structure and strategic business planning and implementation in place.
Alford Creative was founded in 2015 as a web design shop, but quickly shifted towards services that would increase our clients’ impact on the world. From the beginning, we imagined a workplace where work-life balance rules, where people are more important than profit, and where meaningful work was core to our identity. Over time, we have leaned into our core values, desire for social impact, and mission as a human-centered firm.
We are excited to announce this certification as we enter our 10th year in business. It serves as an important milestone for our little agency, as we celebrate where we have come from and all the things we still hope to accomplish.
